StarFury is a multiplayer side-scrolling shooter. Two teams, red and blue, compete to earn 10,000 points or destroy the enemy base before the time runs out.
The battlefield is randomly generated and populated with buildings. At each end are two power crystals, one for the red team, the other for the blue. When one is destroyed, the game is over, and the team that bombed their opponents crystal wins. The crystals are surrounded by two shield projectors. A ways behind the crystals, two corresponding power generators are located, which must be bombed in order to penetrate the shields around the crystal. In front of the crystals lie airfields, on which ships spawn. Each airfield consists of two turrets protected by a shield, followed by 7 blocks of airstrip. In front of the third airfield, two more shielded turrets spaced apart guard the front of the bases. In the middle, there is no man's land, which takes up 50% of the total length of the map. At the moment there are three classes: fighter, bomber, and interceptor. The fighter's job is to shoot down enemy planes. It has extra ammo, and a faster firing, more accurate gun, along with afterburners. The interceptor is designed to take out bombers. It has mouse guided rockets and infra red scanners to detect cloaked ships. However, its reduced speed and manuverability make it easy prey for an enemy fighter. The third class, the bomber, plays the most important role. It carries bombs in order to destroy buildings, enemy shields, turrets, and ultimately the enemy power crystal. In addition, it has the ability to cloak, making it a difficult target for an enemy fighter. However, bombers are vulnerable to interceptors sensors and missiles.
