Extracting main.dol

  1. Before starting, verify that the checksum of your .iso matches the Redump entry. This is to make sure that you have a good dump of your game.

  2. In Dolphin, right click on the .iso and select Properties > Filesystem. Then, right click on the disc and select Extract Entire Disc…. Extract the disc to an empty folder. The folder can be named anything you want:

Step 2

  1. In the main toolbar, select Options > Configuration > Paths. Click Add…, and add the path to the sys folder in the disc that you just extracted. In this example, my empty folder that I extracted to was named “Super Mario Sunshine (USA)”:

Step 3

  1. Click the Refresh button in the main toolbar:

Step 4

  1. A new entry should appear in the game list if it didn't before the refresh. A Size of 0.00 B indicates the extracted game. In Dolphin, you can run a game from the main.dol file in the sys folder of an extracted game. The main.dol file is what we will be patching with Flips. In this example, I toggled the File Name field, so that I could more easily tell which entry was the extracted game by seeing the main.dol file name:

Step 5

Applying the .bps Patch

  1. Open the Flips patching utility, and apply the provided main.bps patch from RAPatches to the main.dol file in the sys folder of the extracted game. In detail, select Apply Patch in Flips and select the main.bps patch. Then, select the main.dol file to patch it:

Step 6

You have successfully patched a game by modifying main.dol with a provided patch! From here, you can either run the game from the main.dol, or you can freely convert to .iso or .rvz (.rvz is recommended to preserve space). They will all have the same hash for RA.
