This PR doesn't do anything to
vcshitself and shouldn't even change how the build system is used, it just refactors theautotoolscode (both autoconf and automake stages) using auxiliary macro files instead of having big blobs in theconfigure.acandMakefile.amfiles. The blobs removed are 100% reusable, and in their current form are already in half a dozen other projects of mine. The result is a much more readable config and easier to maintain macros because improvements can easily be copied from other projects.
