Drills are tools used to extract resources from a planetary body (planet, moon, or asteroid) for storage or processing. They come in multiple sizes and support extraction of different resources. Drills also support one or more Converters modules. These can be configured so the frill processes a single resource at full efficiency or distributes the efficiency across multiple resources.

Extraplanetary Launchpads is a separate mod that allows initially constructing ships, bases, and other items in the SPH or VAB and then using special parts and processes to construct them on other planetary objects using launchpads or stakes.
MKS has developed its own take on this, providing two capabilities for remotely building ships and other craft. Each part can store a certain amount of MaterialKits and SpecializedParts.
