Parts (USI LS)
This is accurate as of USI Kolonization Systems (MKS) version 0.55.0.0 and USI-LS 0.9.0.0. Please note that these parts are explicitly NOT bundled with MKS. However, they are heavily used by MKS players, and thus are included here for completeness. More details at the USI-LS wiki
USI Life Support (USI-LS) parts are a relatively simple collection of storage parts and resources which form the foundation of being able to feed your Kerbals, recycle their waste, and keep them from becoming homesick. There are storage containers, Nom-O-Matics/greenhouses, and recyclers, that are used to manage three resources (Supplies
, Mulch
, and Fertilizer
) and habitat extenders that extend the Habitation timer. Players should review Life Support for more details on how these work.
There are two types of LifeSupport storage: MiniPaks and Tanks. The MiniPaks are designed to go on the outside of your ships or bases, while tanks are designed to be placed inline.
MiniPaks come in three flavors, one each for Supplies
, Mulch
, and Fertilizer
, whereas tanks have two types: one for Fertilizer
and one for both Mulch
and Supplies
. (The fact that Kerbals use the same kontainer to store both their food and their waste shows just how brave they are!)

Nom-O-Matics are essentially greenhouses that take Mulch
, add Fertilizer
and ElectricCharge
, and produce Supplies
. Each unit of Fertilizer
will produce more than 10 units of Supplies
. There are three sizes:
- one designed to be placed inline
- one is designed to terminate with a cupola
- one that can be placed on any attachment point
Nom-O-Matic | Mass (T) | Max Fertilizer

Daily Conversion (F+M+E=S) |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Nom-O-Matic 5000 | 0.154 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0.2592F + 2.592M + 5,616E => 2.8512S |
Nom-O-Matic 25000 | 0.708 | 100 | 100 | 200 | 100 | 1.296F + 12.96M + 28,512E => 14.256S |
Nom-O-Matic 25000-I | 1.52 | 300 | 300 | 600 | 300 | 2.592F + 25.92M + 57,024E => 28.512S |
Recyclers allow you to reduce the Supplies
used by your Kerbals. There are two sizes. The smaller is designed to be added outside a vessel or base and the larger is designed to be placed inline with other modules.
Note this section may need to be updated for the latest 0.50 numbers
Recycler | Mass (T) |
ElectricCharge per day |
Recycler % | Crew Affected |
---|---|---|---|---|
RT-500 Recycling Module | 0.10 | 43,200 | 60% | 1 |
RT-5000 Recycling Module | 3.75 | 1,620,000 | 79% | 3 |
So one RT-500 will reduce the amount of Supplies
used by one kerbal by 60%, or reduce the amount of Supplies
used by 2 kerbals by 30%, etc.
Kerbals really like their Kerbin. While they don't mind visiting other places, they have to be convinced to stay away for long periods of time. If they have more room to stretch out, or have nice viewing areas, they're more amenableto being away from home.
USI-LS takes into account the number of seats provided in your ships, and provides two additional parts that add a multipliers.
Habitation Part | Mass (T) |
