I tested this on my old Windows 10 laptop. I'm able to start a gui server on the windows machine and have it communicate with my client running on my MacBook.
Seeing some strange JSON parsing errors occasionally on my client side. It looked like some messages were being split in half. I suspect this might be because of how old and slow my Windows machine is, but it's hard to confirm.
I would appreciate if somebody else with a more capable windows machine could confirm that this is working for them.

I removed the installer task entirely. I wasn't able to get it to work and I don't see a purpose for an installer when you can build the exe directly. (But I'm also not a windows person so if there's a good reason to build an installer we could look into bringing that back)
