These are inspired by the typical "DevOps Lifecycle" infinity loop diagrams. I used the term "build stage" because it's the most commonly used term from the overview above.
Note: I have started the next level of detail in https://github.com/amfred/sig-interoperability/blob/build-step-proposal/docs/vocabulary.md. These build stages should be very high level.
