Currently the learn druid repo has it's own implementation of a Druid API. We're (learn-druid committers) planning on replacing this with PyDruid to simplify the Python x Druid experience by reducing the number of modules.
I'm raising this PR with a view to preserve some / all of the features of "druidapi" for legacy and because the druidapi module implements some nice helper functions for status and Jupyter notebooks that are missing from/not yet in PyDruid.
