You can try the plugin at http://dthies.github.io/tinymce4-mathslate where it is available in a simple interface. The particular appearance and functionality may be customized to particular application by changing the style sheet or including different MathJax configuration options. For example the mhchem extension can be added for chemical reactions for science related sites.
Mathslate can be integrated in other web platforms that use TinyMCE4 integrations. This has been done successfully in a Moodle prototype and in the current Mahara editor.
