https://github.com/pypa/pip-audit and https://github.com/pypa/gh-action-pip-audit can be integrated into the CI workflow. Checking for new vulnerabilities should be a process being performed periodically, as new vulnerabilities can be identified much after the versions of a WfExS release have been frozen.
