Shuttle (New): FSB Bounty #2786
Shuttle (New): FSB Bounty #2786
Conversation
I'd like to see a way to feed produce directly to a docked kitchen ship, but its a very pretty ship |
Is there a kitchen ship that can have produce fed directly into it? For those purposes a plant box is your best bet by far. Both for storage and transport. |
Holy chonker, this boy is WIDE. |
About three tiles wider than the Akupara at the widest point, yup. Yup yup yup. |
The Boca can, and arguably the McCargo |
Haven't seen a plant box before, I'll keep my eye out for one to fiddle with. |
It's an ore box for plants. They're available in the trade inventory. I encourage their use. |
Updated the chem lab and front facing spaces. |
I've decided to close this PR. With many thanks to everyone who offered their testing and thoughts this shuttle was, ultimately, designed before the new guidelines dropped and I don't see a pathway forward for it to remain viable for the public at large. I remain very fond of the design and the experience of its use and will do my best to incorporate the best elements of the design into a new shuttle. |
About the PR
This PR adds a new shuttle. The FSB Bounty. It is my attempt to bridge the existing infrastructure of the Garden with the medical equipment needed to put those tools into players hands.
I would like to request a special waiver for the 4 tiles of glass rule for the purposes of the biodome. I think it adds a nice visual piece and, as it is a very specific design "nature" ethos, seems appropriate for the overall design of the shuttle.
Why / Balance
In my ongoing effort to explore the roster of shuttles that directly contribute to or support the medical and service field I've always orbited around what a slightly more robust hydroponic shuttle might look like. The garden with a fuller suite of tools and more spaces to interact with players.
I feel that the Akupara presented a strong toolset in this respect. But I wanted to produce a sidegrade that stepped away from the Akupara's focus on the atmospheric portion of botany and really lean into player to player interaction spaces and an emphasis on producing and trading medical and botanical materials as an alternative choice and approach.
The Bounty takes much of the Garden's basic toolset and pairs it with the medical and chemistry fabrication suite, with additional spaces set aside for her engineering, cargo, command and living spaces. In order to better differentiate those areas as one can with a medium shuttle. In addition I wanted to put an emphasis on providing both a welcoming "front end" to the shuttle for player exchanges and to take advantage of the opportunity to establish a green space. Which I feel is not something that is commonly encountered on most shuttles.
I feel pretty good about how these spaces feel and how everything functions in terms of the gameplay tests that I have conducted so far. So I wanted to welcome other voices and experiences into stress testing their own preferred methods and interactions into testing the shuttle.
My hope is that this shuttle provides a solid platform for those who wish to "make" things for both the medical players at large, support the needs of the DoC, have a place where they can engage in madcap personal experiments or simply enjoy a shuttle that provides a little personal space and a, I feel, somewhat unique garden.
I welcome your feedback and suggestions!
How to test
Purchase the shuttle at the medical dispatch poi.
