Hello my name is Giles Cope and I humbly ask to start my journey in the fellowship as Dan I. I have been learning and working on Polkadot full time since May 21, currently working in the Common Good Parachains team.
One of my Polkadot goals is to keep the Polkadot codebase clean and make the barrier to contribute as low as possible:
rustfmt.toml
paritytech/substrate#8982Maybe these are all trivial things on their own but they compound to make contributing to Polkadot a little easier.
I've been involved with rolling out numerous successful statemine/t releases and have been improving the release process to accommodate more common good parachains (and system parachains).
At night I have been creating a cross-chain polkadot viewer that is out of scope for the fellowship application purposes, but to have it work in the browser I have needed frame-metadata to be no_std so am getting that landed ( paritytech/frame-metadata#42 ).
I am just starting out on this epic journey and there is still a lot left for me to learn about Polkadot but I appreciate everyone's help that I have had along the way, and hope to pay it forwards. If my contributions are out of scope for the fellowship that's ok too - I accept it is defined to be very protocol focused.
