rComplex (IGF 2010 Entry)
**rComplex is a game project that Brian Terwilliger and I started working on only 8 days before before the IGF 2010 entry deadline. Some how, even with such a short time window we made the deadline in time. It all started when my brother (Ryan) and I were coming up with simple game concepts that we thought would be good IGF entries that same night that we started the project. 8 days later rComplex was born!
rComplex is a game about a man who's only goal is to make it out alive. As he makes his attempt to escape he recalls previous events and questions his situation in his thoughts.**

Apparently some people are getting an error messaging saying that they are missing MSVC71.dll . If you're getting this message download the DLL file "msvcr71.dll" attached to this release (or any other place you may find it) and copy it to the main folder of the game . For me, the main folder is C:\rComplex\ .

Controls
Default controls are mapped to the keyboard. Movement controls are mapped to the arrow keys and fire is mapped to the 'Z' key. To activate your shield press the 'X' key on the keyboard. The controls may be changed in the Options menu under “Controls” by pressing the 'Esc' key anytime during gameplay. You may also use a gamepad to play this game.
Note: Please use the mouse to select the gamepad map and keyboard mapping menus.
Gameplay
Wings of Apocalypse sports much of the same gameplay mechanics as many other shoot em ups but with a twist! Each character in the game has Deflector Shield in which he or she may deflect enemy attacks of the same color. For example; Naomi's Deflector Shield is Red, therefore she may only deflect Red enemy fire!
Depending on which character you choose, the difficulty of the game will change. Although the environment is exactly the same for each character, the opportunity to deflect enemy attacks are not. If the player chooses Roger he/she will be able to deflect almost all attacks because there are usually more blue enemies in the game. In other words Roger is easy difficulty, Bryan medium and Naomi Hard.
Known Issues
-On some system configurations Wings of Apocalypse has been known to perform poorly after the initial installation. If you are experiencing this, restart your computer to fix the problem.
-Performance is significantly decreased when the SLI feature is enabled for Nvidia video cards
-Wings of Apocalypse does not scroll properly when the SLI feature is enabled for Nvidia video cards
-If you use your keyboard or gamepad to select the keyboard or gamepad mapping menus you may have issues with your controls. A quick fix is to always select the keyboard or gamepad mapping menus with the mouse
-Windowed mode doesn't always work properly

Movement : Left Analog Stick or D-PAD
Fire: A button

Note: to exit the game press the ESC button to the top left of your computer keyboard.
Gameplay
To destroy the eye and advance to the next level you must destroy all blocks on screen. Blocks are usually red, green or blue. Destroying a block that is the same color as the eye launches a seeking projectile towards you! So be careful!
Known Issues
-Alt Tabing in and out of the game during gameplay causes the alpha effects to become non-existent. To fix this problem press the ESC key to exit gameplay and re-enter the game.
-In Windows Vista press the ESC key during gameplay seems to exit the game completely instead of taking you back to the main menu. The problem seems to be that Windows Vista detects the ESC key several times more then in Windows XP. The quick fix for this is to quickly tap the ESC key when attempting to exit back the Main Menu in Windows Vista.
