I was getting a few 'subscript out of bounds' errors when packrat would try to read the DESCRIPTION file of the package. This was due to using the --contain parameter on my singularity container without binding the /tmp directory. It was map the files but not write anything to them. It took a while to resolve hence think this checker would assist debugging.
