Debian builds of ImageMagick sadly don't come compiled with
--with-webp
, if you follow an online tutorial just add that to./configure

does not support reading animated webps and seems to not be capable of setting the continuous loop flagUsing ImageMagick alone for scaling&cropping produced horribly flickery thumbnails
Using only libwebp for creating animated thumbnails is a huge pain, as it is a very, very raw tool. It can extract frames to files etc., but then you have to manually deal with offsets, frame times, etc.
