## Content description
Cataloging, at its core, is the act of describing something - *what is it?* - to enable some sort of use of the metadata.
I won't go into detail about the many possible uses of metadata, but the aims proposed in FRBR for example, is a good starting point: to **find**, **identify**, **select**, and **obtain**.
