To configure EZComments, go to the admin panel, select EZComments, and then select modify configuration.

Miscellaneous

The options under this heading affect the look of EZComments.

Default template

EZComments ships with different template sets. These sets define how EZComments looks like. After initialisation, the default template set is "Plain", which gives a very basic interface oriented on the old comments module. "Plain" works together with the "Threaded" set, which provides the same look, but in a threaded way.

The "Threaded" template set

Other Template sets include a forum-like look (pnForum) and some table based sets (AllOnOnePage etc.)

Allow unregistered users to set user information

If this option is checked, unregistered users can provide their name, their mail address and their URL (if they have the right to comment at all).

Log IP addresses

This checkbox determines if the IP address of the commenter will be logged.

Comments per page (admin view)

This number does not affect the number of comments visible to the users, but the number of comments on the moderation page for administrators.

Enable Pager (user view)

You can enable paged comments, so your pages don't get cluttered when you expect a lot of comments.

Comments per page (user view)

If the pager is enabled, you can set the number of comments to show to the user here.

Notification

EZComments can notify the administrator of a site about new comments. This might be useful to control if spam or other unwanted content is posted to EZComments.

Send mail on new comment

If enabled, the administrator is notified on all new comments

Send mail comments requiring moderation

If enabled, the administrator is notified on Comments that should be moderated (see the next option)

Moderation

EZComments can hold back comments and let the administrator decide if the comment should be published or not. This process is called moderation.

Enable comment moderation

This option enables to hold back comments based on the following decisions

All comments require moderation

If this option is enabled, no comment is published directly, but all comments must be accepted by the administrator.

Don't require moderation for comments from users who've already commented

Exactly what it tells. If the user already had an approved comment before, he is no longer moderated.

Number of links in comment before moderation

Allow the user to post only a certain amount of links. This option is to prevent spam. A link is identified by the existence of "http://" in the comment

Words to trigger moderation

You can enter a list of words (one word per line) to trigger moderation. If any of the words is found in a comment, the comment is held back to be accepted by the administrator.

Words to blacklist from comments

If a comment contains a word from this list (one word per line), it is deleted immediately.

Blacklist comments from insecure proxies

If a comment is entered via an insecure proxy, it is deleted immediately. This option uses the Blitzed Open Proxy Monitor List.

Feeds

EZComments is able to provide a news feed of the latest comments in RSS or ATOM format. This feed is available at the URL http://www.example.com/index.php?module=EZComments&func=feed. You can set the defaults here:

Type of feed

Select if you want to show a RSS or an ATOM feed

Number of items to display in feed

The number of comments to show in the feed.

The defaults set here can be overwritten in the URL using the feedtype and feedcount parameters. To show 20 comments in an atom feed, you would use http://www.example.com/index.php?module=EZComments&func=feed&feedtype=atom&feedcount=20.
