Frequently Asked Questions
This is used to download images from URLs when you click the paperclip icon in the Quick Reply.
It means one of the following happened:
- Most likely: A connection error with sys.4chan.org happened. 4chan shits itself frequently, so keep trying.
- Another extension, such as NoScript or Adblock Plus, blocked Appchan X from posting. See below for details.
- You are using Avast Web Shield, which is known to interfere with image posting.
- A connection error with your network happened.
- The image you're trying to post has ceased to exist.
- Less likely: Your IP may have been banned. For technical reasons, Appchan X can't always differentiate between a ban and a connection error. Use the link provided to check your ban status.
- There may be a bug in your browser, Greasemonkey, or Appchan X. Please check that the problem isn't one of the previous issues, and report it. Include the version numbers of your browser, Greasemonkey (if applicable), and Appchan X, and any details necessary to reproduce the bug.
This is usually caused by either another extension. To determine the cause, temporarily disable all other extensions, and turn them on one by one until you find the extension responsible.
If you are using NoScript, allow the domain of the URL that was blocked.
Adblock Plus's EasyList blocks URLs of the form .org/adv/, which causes errors on the /adv/ board. Disable this rule or add an exception for 4chan.org and 4cdn.org.
In Chromium or Chromium based browsers, to check if another extension is blocking Appchan X from loading something, look for the message net::ERR_BLOCKED_BY_CLIENT in your Javascript console.
You have enabled Desktop Notifications in your Appchan X settings, but have yet to allow it in your browser's settings. You must grant permission individually on http://boards.4chan.org and https://boards.4chan.org for Appchan X to show notifications there.
If you allow desktop notifications, Appchan X will show notifications
- When someone replies to you
- When the Quick Reply encounters a posting error
- When you are running low on cached captchas while dumping
Uncheck Custom Board Navigation
Enable Replace GIF, Replace JPG, Replace PNG, and Replace WEBM. These are meant to replace the thumbnails with high quality versions, but they also serve as always-on image prefetching.

Why is there a blank hidden Questionable mascots category?
Reserved for NSFW mascots that were removed so I didn't have to add the adult content warning on the Chrome Store.
If you want them back, go into mascots section of your settings and use the "Import Mascot" dialog to import this file: questionable.json
