Setting up your exported data

Bulk upload

  • Log in to the Google Cultural Institute console
  • Click Add New Items to open the Advanced Import modal
  • Open the master spreadsheet from the link provided
    • Add however many new rows at the bottom you'll need (one per image file)
    • Add your metadata; use the documentation to make sure your field names are correct and your data is in the right place
  • Return to the console and click Upload media on the Advanced Import modal
  • Do not add folders, just individual JPEGs or TIFFs (max. 100MB each)
  • The filenames of the images need to match the filespec field in the metadata sheet
  • Save the spreadsheet, return to the console and click Upload Google Sheet; this will begin the process of reading each line of the sheet and finding new files to match rows with, thereby adding new items, new subitems, or updating existing items.

Adding images to an existing single-image item

To make an item multi-image, you must first delete the item from the GCI Items console. Otherwise the system will say that the first image is already referenced by an existing item. Adding the item again as part of a "sequence" will recreate it.
