To make things easier for you, GitHub also has a desktop app that you can use so you don't have to use the browser version, making your work space a little more fluid. Download the installer according to your current OS and then follow instructions on the screen and you should be good to go!
GitHub also has some great tutorials with how to navigate and use the website. Take advantage of it if you don't understand how it works. There are also several other informative (and humorous) tutorials as well outside of GitHub created by a variety of users.
