The TCU can be configured to run in 2 modes. This is done at a firmware configuration level, and depends on the age of the vehicle that the TCU is to be installed in

Mode 1 - EGS with TRRS

Mainly intended for vehicles which came with the EGS or EGS51 module

Mode 2 - EGS with EWM

Mainly intended for vehicles which come with the Electronic gear selector module (EWM)
