Campaign Notifications

Spencer McIntyre edited this page Feb 2, 2017 · 4 revisions

King Phisher currently supports campaign notification delivery via SMS text messages. Notifications are sent for users that have "subscribed" to a campaign. Subscriptions are on a many user to many campaign basis, ie. multiple users can subscribe to notifications for multiple campaigns.

Subscribing to Campaign Notifications

To subscribe to a campaigns notification, a user needs to open the King Phisher client's Configuration windows (Edit > Preferences). In the "Server" tab the client must set their phone number and SMS carrier. This will update the information on the server, allowing it to send notifications.

Once the SMS information has been submitted by the client they will need to subscribe to notifications for the campaigns that they are interested in. Under the "Campaign" tab of the Configuration window the user needs to check the "Subscribe to SMS Alerts" box.

Notifications only contain the number of visits or credentials that have been reached and the name of the campaign.

Notification Frequency

King Phisher currently sends notifications for two events in a campaign, new visits and new credential submission. Notifications for new visits are sent on the 1st, 10th, 25th and every 50th after that (50, 100, 150, etc.). Notifications for new credentials are sent on the 1st, 5th, 10th and every 25th after that (25, 50, 75, etc.).

SMS Notification Failure

SMS notifications are sent directly through the SMS provider's SMS gateway. If notifications are not being sent correctly it is possible that the carrier has banned the IP address of the King Phisher server. Many carriers drop messages from networks due to spam.

Notification Plugins

Additional options are available for notifications regarding campaigns in the form of server plugins. These can be found in the plugins repository under the server folder and include options for Pushbullet and XMPP.
