Using Public SMTP Servers

The following table can be used as a quick reference for the settings required to use public SMTP servers. Note that these all require valid accounts for their respecitve services.

Note that "Tunnel Over SSH" should be set to Off for all of these.

* If you have 2-factor authentication on your gmail account, you will need to set up an "app password". See Google support for application passwords.

Trouble Shooting

These public services will not allow users to send emails as users other than who they are authenticated as. Ensure that both "Source Email" options in the message configuration tab are set correctly to an authorized email.
