Window boxes are narrow planters that can be placed on the ground or attached to a wall. As their name suggests, they make a great accent ledge below windows for placing small plants. They come in a variety of wood plank styles as well as stone and brick styles. Window boxes are dynamic, and will connect to each other around corners. Window boxes can be placed on the top or bottom half of a block, allowing for stepping arrangements.

Planting

Window boxes technically support 4 plant slots, but will only provide 1 - 3 slots depending on their arrangement with neighboring window boxes. They have no arrangement UI, so are not compatible with the garden trowel. They are compatible with the soil test kit.

Plants can be placed in a window box by clicking on the box's soil with the plant. The plant will be placed in the closest slot to where you click within the box.

Restrictions

As of version 1.5.5, window boxes will accept most plants, but will modify or clip their rendering if they are too large. "Full" plants, as discussed in size restriction, are still fully restricted. Smaller plants will usually produce the best results with window boxes.
